Sundowning
is the art of savoring day’s end with good company, refreshing drinks, and groovy entertainment. Often under open skies—but not exclusively—the Vancouver, BC–based band brings this spirit to life on stage.
To do so royally is to embrace simple luxuries and small delights, elevating the ordinary into a musical escape.
And as the sun goes down, the stars inevitably come out.

The Royal Sundowners sink into a groove of rich sound, blending alluring vocals, soulful keys, bright rhythm guitar, groovy bass lines, and beats that invite you to move. Based in Vancouver, BC, the players individually have played music festivals, packed arenas, and popular music venues. Offstage, they keep side-hustles in video game sound design, digital promotion, & NHL stadium music direction. The Sundowners stay true in their ethos: good times, good vibes, good music, good people.
A Long Story Short
Back in the pandemic time with no gigs, no shows, word spread of players coming together in an East Vancouver park. On clear weather, an SMS from The Original Sundowner would announce an East Van Space Jam. With gear loaded on wagons and amps plugged in car batteries, players appeared to shout songs for the crew to jam on, and stay to enjoy a drink through sundown. From a rotating cast of musical characters, five musicians, each with deep roots in music, banded together.
On rainy evenings, the Sundowners retreat to an exclusive musical speak-easy behind hidden doors where the art of sundowning is captured. “Let your friends entertain you,” they say, bringing their favourite grooves and sundown energy to the stage.
